I love exploring the infinite possibilities presented by working with Fractals in abstract, expressionist and symbolist form.

I came across fractals initially after researching truth theories which led onto the trail of Creation and then to Quantum mechanics and Chaos.
Fractals fascinated me from the start and the more I learned the more I felt drawn to somehow use them in a creative way. The Fractal art you see on my site is computer generated. A computer program applies a colour to each pixel on the screen based on mathematical formulas. Benoit Mandelbrot first coined the term 'Fractal' and was the first to apply it to computers.

His original formula, z^2+c, is called the Mandelbrot formula. Fractals have become more than just a vehicle for self expression to me, my whole life philosophy has evolved from the study and interacting with them.

But what are fractals? Simply put, fractals are complex images of extraordinary beauty which arise out of fairly simple mathematical functions

I start by generating an image from a formula, then work deeper and deeper adjusting the image and look for interesting patterns. The mathematical variables then can be changed and the colour scheme altered to bring out a unique picture. The possibilities are endless..
